Summer heat
Greetings all, from Singapore!
I thought I was the unlucky one trying to slog out runs in the heat and humidity here until I checked the weather back home in Carrboro this weekend. Holy cow! I hope Brent passed on his long run (which by now at least is shorter), delaying it a few days until the worst heat passes. I tried one myself this morning and only lasted about 97 minutes. My attempt involved slowing considerably by the end of my run as the temperature climbed to around 82 with 90+% humidity at 9am.
I think I drank about 1 gallon of water and still felt dehydrated. These are the days I wish I were a camel.

You know it’s hot outside when you’re excited it’s only 78 at 7:30 in the morning as you head out for your run. Yay! A cold front!

marc, i went the full two hours with some quick miles in there, but it felt much, much harder with the heat.my biggest mistake so far was running a 13 miler at 5 pm last thursday…it was 97 when i went out…i was pretty tired after that. i am glad for the taper now.

Brent,
Good to hear you survived at least. I am slowly adapting to the tropical heat here and had a great run this evening. The heat index was only 88 and I was flying!
