Unbridled

Posted in The Blog of Jabaut at 8:16 pm by Jason

I like to train hard, I like to run a lot of miles, and I like to exhaust all of my physical resources.  My father would say that I’m great at “burning the candle at both ends.”  And while in the past that may have meant late nights and hard training, now it just refers to the training.  Unfortunately, the majority of the year I have to pull in the reins and save my resources for small windows of opportunity (races).  But with nary a race in sight for the next 10 weeks, I am feeling fiery.

So, if you see me during the next couple of months, don’t worry about the bags under my eyes.  Please disregard any signs of wear and tear like if my cheeks look hollow, or my clavicles are unusually pronounced.  Don’t worry, I eat plenty of food.  This is the time of year where I can run, run and run.  And I love it.

How about you?

I was starting to worry, Jason. Glad I saw this post before we had an intervention.

If it wasn’t for this blasted heat, I would like this time of year, too.

ooh I heart your post beyond words. I love the ability to just run and run and run - that exhausted feeling of accomplishment. It’s the “long run that puts the tiger in the cat.” I woefully will think of this post for another week as I truck away on the elliptical machine - then maybe I can join you in some long run exhilarating exhaustion.

Hot weather & frigid weather is meant for training when you can’t perform to you max (mental or physical, your call). By the time it is past you are so tired of training that racing & the pain (?) associated with it is a welcome relief and you are so pumped to push the envelope again.
Stay focused man who runs like a girl!

      Georgie,
What exactly do you mean by “man who runs like a girl?”
I ASSUME that is a compliment, yes?

Ask Jason & say it’s from George. It has a dual meaning also, both a compliment since I have seen some tremendous female runners in my 30+ years of running & a poke at the young male ego many years ago. More later if you wish but only after talking with Jason.
