Many Thanks
The life of a post-collegiate runner is difficult and (more often than not) leads to cynicism in those who pursue it. While there is a definite, noble quality in chasing an Olympic dream, the reality of that dream rarely surfaces for a variety of reasons. Most notably, finances. Unaided, the lone athlete will be overcome by bills, debt and exhaustion.
Joan Nesbit Mabe and Bobby Biles are the respective coach and owner of the newly founded Carrboro Athletics Club. It was Joan’s vision to have an elite training group in the area; it was Bobby’s planning and networking that enabled it to happen. They may bring different gifts to the table, but they have one very important thing in common: passion – for running and their community. These two people have created something special in Carrboro – a team of underdogs with Olympic dreams. I could not ask for a better support group and I am grateful to call Carrboro my new home. Thank you Joan and Bobby for believing in us and leading the way. You give us hope that our efforts will lead to success and you offer inspiration for us to continue on this journey.
